Anyone played STAR WARS EDGE OF THE EMPIRE? What are your opinions about the system?

Most people who ran or played Star Wars FFG (Edge of the Empire) report a fun, cinematic game. Several of those campaigns ran for years. It depends on players who narrate their own dice results, and a few groups got bored, found the symbols slow to read, or disliked the talent trees. 17 firsthand · 84 comments

Are the FFG Star Wars Games Still Popular?

People who actually ran or played Star Wars FFG report a system they love and keep returning to. They praise how well it captures the Han-and-Chewie feel and say the narrative dice work once players loosen up. Complaints are mostly about thinking up threats and consequences, book weight and sheet tooling. Much of the thread is about availability, PDFs and licensing, which I ignored. 11 firsthand · 75 comments

Happy Star Wars Day! Let's talk Edge of the Empire (and Age of Rebellion, and Force and Destiny)

People who ran or played the FFG Star Wars games (mostly Edge of the Empire, some Age of Rebellion) mostly report a fast, flavorful system that gets players telling the story, and several ran long campaigns. The recurring problems are GM interpretation fatigue, tracking wounds and strain in combat, weak GM guidance on balance, and groups that bounced off the custom dice. 11 firsthand · 78 comments

Do you think FFG Star Wars would be more popular without the book and dice stocking issues?

The firsthand reports are mostly lukewarm to negative. Several groups found that reading the narrative dice symbols slowed play to a crawl, and some quit after one or two missions or burned out after a while. A few people run it happily, including one on Roll20 and one who loves the dice, but they give little detail, and much of the thread is about dice and book availability, PDFs and speculation from people who haven't played. 8 firsthand · 239 comments

Star Wars D6, Star Wars FFG, Star Wars 5e… which one?

The few firsthand reports on Star Wars FFG are mostly positive. One GM ran a long Rebellion campaign that felt like the movies, and others praise the dice for cinematic, evenly weighted actions. The cost is that the narrative results take prep and improv effort and the rules explain themselves poorly. Most of the thread compares it with d6 and d20 Star Wars or talks about Genesys, and I ignored those. 4 firsthand · 175 comments
