What players say

At the table

Delta Green is mission-driven. Handlers give agents orders, and the agents choose how to carry them out. Tables report grim, morally heavy play that is easy to pick up and quick to run. Firsthand reports are fairly thin, and many threads are comparisons with other games.

What's better in Delta Green than in Call of Cthulhu?

Players and GMs who have run or played Delta Green mostly report a good experience. They like the built-in reason for the group to work together, the clear mission goals, and the lethal combat that pushes players to avoid fights. Most of the thread is a comparison with Call of Cthulhu and the praise is general, so detailed table reports are thin. The few complaints are about how deadly play is and about King in Yellow material feeling repetitive. 8 firsthand · 69 comments

Quinn's Quest - Delta Green & Impossible Landscapes

People who ran or played Delta Green report a light, quick core system at the table, with the heavy crunch rarely needed. Horror sessions land well, and the one detailed complaint is that Impossible Landscapes is railroaded and takes a lot of GM work. The thread is mostly about Quinn's review, layout and reading experience, so firsthand play reports are sparse. 6 firsthand · 156 comments

Starter oneshot for Delta Green/Nights black agents?

The thread is a Delta Green vs Night's Black Agents comparison. The Delta Green reports are warm: GMs ran starter one-shots and multi-year campaigns with little trouble, and the only drawback anyone mentions is content warnings on one scenario. Most of the thread is recommendation and genre comparison rather than detailed table reports, and NBA comments were ignored. 6 firsthand · 13 comments

What is Delta Green Like?

The few people who describe running Delta Green at their table report intense, bleak, morally heavy play, with players making brutal choices and the dread seeping into everyday life. It is mission-driven rather than sandbox, but GMs say agents have real freedom in how they solve each assignment, and most of the thread is design discussion and genre comparison rather than play reports. 5 firsthand · 82 comments

Triangle Agency may be the Delta Green I always wanted

The thread is mostly about Triangle Agency, and almost nothing in it is firsthand Delta Green play. The two table reports that exist are positive: one GM ran a lighter SCP-style scenario and it went well, and another used the modern setting as catharsis for their group. 2 firsthand · 85 comments

Delta Green type games without the supernatural element.

The only firsthand Delta Green play is the original poster's group, who enjoyed several one-shots such as 'Agent Greyson's Retirement Party'. They especially liked the Hitman-style, non-monster scenarios about breaking into a rogue agent's house and following a compromised agent. The rest of the thread suggests other spy games (Night's Black Agents, Covert Ops, Spycraft and others) and is not about playing Delta Green. 1 firsthand · 24 comments
